Laura: This Little Dream of Mine

I’m making a commitment to pursue my dreams in 2011 with *passion*, *persistence* and *patience*. I have found that the best way to pursue a dream is to spend at least 30 minutes a day working away at it. 30 minutes doesn’t sound like much time. I think what’s more important than the time is the daily investment. It helps turn your *dreamwork* into a habit. Plus, if it’s something you’re passionate about, it won’t feel like *work*. The best part? Before long, 30 minutes will turn into an hour, then two, then maybe more. You’ll find yourself getting lost in your dreams, and before you know it, you’ll be living your dreams!

In 2011, I have a dream of becoming a better artist.

My third watercolor since Christmas...it's been 10 years since I painted in watercolor!
Quite honestly, I don’t *yet* consider truly consider myself an artist. My jewelry designs are a form of art to me, but I’m more comfortable with the term “jewelry-maker”. Deep down inside, though, I want to be able to call myself an “artist” in the more traditional sense. I don’t necessarily have dreams of selling or exhibiting my artwork, but would love to be able to create watercolor cards to send family and friends and do other fun, creative things with. I’m already excited about all the neat things I can do with my watercolor paintings…from a little silly (a la my coaster obsession) to très chic.

Who is to say I can’t grow into being an artist in 2011? Why, just a year ago I didn’t call myself a “blogger” or a “writer”. Thanks to this great community, I am comfortable with both labels now. So, one of my goals for 2011 is to truly *own* becoming an artist.

it's my second watercolor since Christmas

On New Year’s Eve, I took out my new art supplies (thank you, wonderful Mom and Dad) and gave it my best shot. I had lots of tutorial books and plenty of paints and brushes.

I decided to follow the advice of “Watercolor painting for Dummies” (smile) and start with 4” X 6” pieces of paper. This was great advice!

My goal is to make painting a habit, just like blogging, jewelry, and social media.

Now, a question for *you*…
